Flags Scheduled For Return To Full Mast Today

Flags will return to full mast around San Marcos today at Noon following the tragic loss of San Marcos Police Office Justin Putnam.

Mayor Jane Hughson requested permission from the Texas Governor to fly flags around the city at half-mast after Officer Putnam was killed in action on April 18.

According to officials, typically, flags would remain at half-mast until the memorial or funeral service; however, Officer Putnam’s funeral arrangements have been postponed due to physical distancing measures.

The City of San Marcos will be returning flags to full mast today, May 6, at noon with the full support of the Governor’s office.

“We will lower the flags again for the funeral or any processions when they occur,” city officials said.
