BUDA, TX (September 6, 2017): The Buda Police Department is investigating the theft of a Skytrak Loader from the new City of Buda Municipal Building site which was then used in an attempt to steal an automated teller machine (ATM).
Approximately 3:50 am Wednesday morning, officers responded to an alarm call at First State Bank Central Texas.
Upon arrival, they located an abandoned U-Haul truck in the back which was still running and a Skytrak Loader which had been used in an attempt to steal an ATM and was wedged in the drive-thru.
The U-Haul was stolen from Dollar Tile and the Skytrak Loader was stolen from the new City of Buda Municipal Building site off Main Street. It does not appear as if the suspect(s) were able to get away with any money from the ATM and left the scene before officers arrived.
At this time, we are continuing to gather information, including surveillance video, as the case remains an active investigation.
If anyone has additional information regarding this incident, please contact Detective Fleming at (512) 312-1001.
