Former Bobcat Honored As All-America Scholar

A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

NORMAN, Okla. David Faraudo Godinez was selected as a 2017 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Wednesday morning.

The former member of the Texas State men’s golf team earned the award for the second year in a row. This is also the fourth-straight season at least one Bobcat has garnered the laurel.

A new record number of student-athletes earned All-America Scholar status, including 262 in Division I, 109 in Division II and 20 in NAIA.  

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average less than 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.

A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Faraudo Godinez finished his collegiate career with a 3.XX cumulative GPA. He competed in 12 tournaments this past season and posted a 74.55 stroke average in 33 rounds. He registered three top-25 finishes, including a T-25 effort at the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championship.
