Former Democrat State Rep. Patrick Rose, Current Republican State Rep. Jason Isaac Endorse Ken Strange For HD45

Former Democratic State Rep. Patrick Rose (D-San Marcos) and retiring Republican State Rep. Jason Isaac (R-Dripping Springs) have both endorsed Republican nominee Ken Strange for Texas House District 45.

Rose held the District 45 seat for four terms, from 2003 until 2011, when he was unseated by Isaac in a hotly contested general election. Isaac also served four terms before opting against seeking re-election this year.

The duo released a joint endorsement letter, noting that some may be “surprised” by their endorsement, coming from different parties and having run against each other for this very seat. “We don’t always agree on questions of public policy, but we are in 100 percent agreement on this: Ken Strange needs to be our next state representative,” said Isaac and Rose.

Their endorsement highlights Strange’s long record of community service, including 10 years as a school board trustee, 14 years as director of a non-profit 911 emergency medical service, and service in the U.S. Air Force.

“Time and again, Ken has demonstrated his strong character through acts of service, bravery, and local leadership. When the Memorial Day floods occurred in 2015, Ken’s leadership was called upon to conduct water rescue missions and coordinate response and recovery efforts. When our area needed to modernize its 911 emergency communications, Ken played a leading role. He was also a leader in developing new school safety protocols that have been called “the roadmap” for safer schools all across the state,” write Isaac and Rose.

Striking a unifying tone, Isaac and Rose asked the voters of their district: “How often do you have the chance to vote for someone like this? At a time when politics is so divided, and confidence in our public institutions is at a record low, wouldn’t it be nice to vote for someone with the character, experience, and dedication of Ken Strange?”

Isaac and Rose also noted their trust in Strange’s ability to produce results at the Texas Capitol on the issues that matter most to the district, including public education, groundwater protection, transportation, school and community safety, and property taxes. “These are not partisan issues, they are community issues, and they matter a great deal to our future quality of life,” said Isaac and Rose.

Texas House District 45 includes all of Hays and Blanco counties. Strange won the Republican nomination outright in the March primary, earning more than 54 percent of the vote in a five-way primary election.
