Former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis has announced her intentions to run for the U.S. House and unseat U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, Congressional District 21.
According to the American-Statesman, Abigail Sheppard, press secretary for US. Rep. Filemon Vela, confirmed Davis had told the congressman personally of her intentions.
Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey commented, “Wendy Davis cozied up to Nancy Pelosi and D.C. Democrat insiders immediately following her announcement. I am confident Texans will once again overwhelmingly eject their extremist far-left policies on abortion and immigration.”
Davis served on the Fort Worth City Council for nine years before being elected to the Texas Senate in 2008. She now lives in Austin; in 2014, she ran for Governor and lost by more than 20 percent to Gov. Greg Abbott.
The Texas Tribune reported that House Speaker Pelosi and other House leaders have invited potential supporters of Davis’s to Washington D.C. for a meet and greet with the former state senator.
Nine of the thirteen democrats in the Texas congressional delegation will co-host the event.
A spokesman for Davis declined to comment on the campaign.

I mean, from all the information out there I've been trying to gather an understanding of Wendy Davis who appears rampant on the issue of abortion, if but for abortion's sake alone.
Okay, can grasp her concept, yet for this same reason cannot integrate any meaning into her candidacy on this naked issue, save it somehow advocating that certain persons may act in the role of judge as to whether another may evade abortion prior to birth.
Question presented.Whether Ms. Davis--as a person alive only due to the influences of such a judge--may allege to argue the personal benefits of death arising from the avoidance of birth, when the basis of her own judgment, including that of all former judges, arise entirely from experiences obtained only as a result of this life which, in their judgment, only some may be condemned to arrive, or not arrive.
Or maybe she's just into "it" for the same unknowable reasons given by "sport hunters" who on the basis of you-know-what, get some kind of kick. Never could understand those kind of men, and I guess that goes for those kind of women, too. Is that you, Wendy?
Does Roy serve a large, diverse community of citizens in his district, including Texas State University, or does he represent and ideology and a political. party first? We have water, transportation, flood mitigation, higher education needs that outweigh his ultra-conservative ideological desires. A good, competitive battle over ideas, policies and how to best represent my district is highly welcomed.
