Former San Marcos High School Teacher Wanted For Sexual Assault

The San Marcos Police Department has issued arrest warrants for a former member of the San Marcos High School faculty after receiving reports of an improper sexual relationship with a student.

On November 28, 2018, a female victim came forward with a report of a sexual assault occurring in 2008.

The victim had been a student at San Marcos High School and had engaged in a sexual relationship with a teacher at the school.

SMPD Detective Robert Elrod immediately began an investigation and determined that David Ross Guerrero (12/24/1984) had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim on approximately six separate occasions.

At the time of the sexual relationship between June-July 2008, Guerrero was employed at San Marcos High School as an English teacher and Assistant Coach for the girls’ soccer team. The investigation also discovered that Guerrero left employment with SMHS in 2013 and is currently residing in Colorado.

On Friday, May 24, 2019, the San Marcos Police Department issued two (2) arrest warrants for David Guerrero for the offenses of Sexual Assault of a Child and Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.

Information gathered during the investigation leads SMPD to believe there may be other similar victims at SMHS between 2007 and 2013.

The Police Department is urging anyone who has information regarding the investigation to contact SMPD Detective Robert Elrod at 512-753-2132 or Relrod@sanmarcostx.gov.
