The Four Rivers Association of REALTORS® has announced a new philanthropic endeavor in support of Homes for Our Troops (HFOT). HFOT is a non-profit organization that operates nationally to build mortgage-free, specially adapted homes for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, enabling them to rebuild their lives.
Four Rivers stated they this project to emphasize the role of REALTORS® in impacting the lives of their neighbors. This new support effort for HFOT is part of Four Rivers’ ongoing commitment to advocating for housing opportunity, community enhancement, and especially for ensuring that safe and secure homes are available to Texas’ Veterans and active duty military.
Currently, there are twelve Veterans in Texas who will benefit from this great mortgage-free homeownership opportunity through HFOT. Of these twelve Veterans, there are eight who have chosen to live in our service area.
In twelve years of operation, Homes for Our Troops has completed over 210 homes for the nation’s most severely injured Veterans, many of whom have sustained multiple amputations, varying levels of paralysis, blindness, and traumatic brain injury. Empowered by the freedom a mortgage-free, specially adapted home brings, HFOT Veterans can focus on their recovery, and return to their life’s work of serving others.
Four Rivers stated they are very proud to be supporting this mission. “REALTORS® are the ambassadors of their communities and on the front lines of what is fundamental to the comfort of each and every one of our fellow Texans. A home is more than walls and a roof – it is a place to heal, to grow, to connect. We are dedicated to finding each family the right place to live, especially these heroes.”
They have formed a new task force designated specifically to developing fundraising and awareness ideas in support of Homes for our Troops. If you would like to participate on this task force, please email Amy DuBose at amy@fourriversrealtors.com.
