The City of San Marcos Planning & Development Services Department is pleased to announce that Andrea Villalobos, Matthew Johnson, Tory Carpenter and Will Parrish have obtained their American Institute of Certified Planners Certifications from the American Planning Association (APA).
Certification is obtained through passage of the APA exam, a comprehensive test over expertise in the field of planning.
In order to retain certification, planners are required to complete annual continuing education and professional development.
“We are so proud of our team and the hard work they have put in to become AICP certified,” said Michael Ostrowski, Assistant Director of Planning & Development Services. “It’s an impressive accomplishment to have a majority of our planning staff hold this honor.”
These four staffers join their colleagues Amanda Hernandez, Abby Gillfillan, Michael Ostrowski, and Shannon Mattingly as Certified Planners.
The American Institute of Certified Planners is APA’s professional institute and provides the only nationwide, independent verification of planners’ qualifications.
Certified planners pledge to uphold high standards of practice, ethics, and professional conduct, and to keep their skills sharp by continuously pursuing advanced professional education.
