Friends Of The Buda Library, City Of Buda Coordinate To Host Naming Contest For Heritage Oak Tree

Friends of the Buda Library, in coordination with the city council, is launching a “Name the Tree” contest to involve residents of the greater Buda area in the naming.

Beginning June 16 through June 30, residents of the greater Buda area are invited to submit name proposals for this grand and aged oak that graces the Municipal Complex grounds.

The “prize” for submitting the winning entry will be recognized at the dedication ceremony on August 24.

In submitting a nomination, the submitter relinquishes all rights and claims to use of the name. A tree naming committee comprised of representatives from the Friends of the Buda Library, City of Buda, and the Buda community, will choose five entries that will be announced to the public for voting to determine the winning name.

Voting will occur online and at local sites on July 17-31.

Name proposals should include a person’s name and contact information (phone, email), the proposed name for the tree, and a statement of why this name should be chosen. Entries can be mailed to P.O. Box 1162, Buda, TX, 78610, or visit the Friends of the Buda Library website at http://www.friendsofthebudalibrary.org.
