On Wednesday, February 20, the City of San Marcos announced the deadline for the adults spelling bee had been extended by the Friends of the Library.
According to the city, registration for the third annual Friends of the Library Spelling Bee fundraiser, held at Aquabrew, 150 S. LBJ Dr. on March 13 at 7 pm, will be open until February 28 now.
Teams of three participants aged 18 and up will compete for the title of 2019 Spelling Bee Champion Swarm of San Marcos. Teams will have 30 seconds to spell words on a whiteboard, tournament style, for a fast-paced fun time.
Funds raised from the event will assist the San Marcos Public Library in continuing to have high-quality book and digital book collections, as well as educational programming for children, teens and adults in the community.
To register for the tournament, teams must submit their registration form and $30 per team entry fee to the San Marcos Public Library information desk. Participation is limited to 15 teams.
