Friends Of The SMTX Library Reschedule 2019 Adult Spelling Bee

Staff Reports

On Tuesday, March 5, the City of San Marcos announced the 2019 Adult Spelling Bee, hosted by Friends of the San Marcos Public Library, has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 23, at 7 PM at Aquabrew, located at 150 S. LBJ Dr.

The event was originally slated for March 13. The reason why the event was rescheduled was not stated.

However, according to the city, there are still team slots available for those who wish to participate, and the deadline to register has been extended to May 15, 2019.

To register for the tournament, teams must submit their registration form and $30 per team entry fee to the San Marcos Public Library information desk. Participation is limited to 15 teams.

Teams of three participants aged eighteen and up will compete for the title of 2019 Spelling Bee Champion Swarm of San Marcos. Teams will have 30 seconds to spell words on a whiteboard, tournament style, for a fast-paced fun time.

Funds raised from the event will assist the San Marcos Public Library in continuing to have high-quality book and digital book collections, as well as educational programming for children, teens and adults in the community.

For more information, contact the San Marcos Public Library at (512) 393-8200.
