Gary Job Corps’ Community Relations Council Recognizes First Responders

“This is but a small token of our gratitude for the job you all do every day,” Gary Job Corps President, Elva Zdeb, said.

Gary Job Corps’ Community Relations Council held a First Responders Appreciation Luncheon at Kent Black’s BBQ.

The following first responders were recognized: Buda, San Marcos, Kyle, and Lockhart Police Departments; Chisholm Trail and North Hays County Fire Rescue; Caldwell County EMS, Hays County Constables Precincts 1, 2 and 3, Hays County Emergency Preparedness; Hays and Travis County Sheriff’s Office; Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department, North Hays County Fire Rescue; San Marcos and Kyle Fire Departments; and Wimberley EMS.

Elva Zdeb, President, Gary Job Corps Community Relations Council shared with the assembly that, “this is but a small token of our gratitude for the job you all do every day. We appreciate each and every one of our local responders and them keeping us safe. Texas has been tried the past year with the natural disaster, Hurricane Harvey and many of the members here at the luncheon were first responders at this disaster.”

The Gary Job Corps Community Relations Council has held appreciation luncheons celebrations previously for elected officials, law enforcement, employers, and educators.

Membership of the Community Relations Council consists of the following community leaders: Elva Zdeb, HR manager for San Marcos Embassy Suites, Christopher Benton from Embassy Suites, Diana Tagle-Guerrero from SMISD, Jason Mock from the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, Scott Sellers, City Manager from the City of Kyle, Dago Pates from the Kyle Police Department, Amanda McPherson from the Office of Congressman Lamar Smith, Miguel Arredondo from Texas State University, Anita Miller from the San Marcos Daily Record, Alfonso Sifuentes and Marcos Villalobos from Green Group Holdings, Julie Snyder, President Kyle Chamber of Commerce, Jeff Barnett, Chief of Police Kyle Police Department, Ruben Becerra from Gills Broiler, and from Gary Job Corps: Rachel Garnes, Irma Pardo, Susanne Ritter, and Randolph Goodman. Job Corps works for Communities, Employers, and Tax-payers.
