Gary Job Corps Hosts Workforce Council Meeting

Lonnie Hall, Gary Job Corps Center Director, welcomed employer partners that are participants in the Work-Based –Learning program (internships) to share with instructors the requirements of their professions. 

Mick Normington, Business Specialist, Texas Workforce, Labor Market and Career Information Department, was the featured speaker presenting with the Workforce Council the employment needs in Texas and future treads in the workforce. 

Gary Job Corps instructors paired off with employer partners and conducted Vocational Assessments on the training conducted and made recommendations to better prepare students for the world of work. 

Employment partners attending meeting were Hill Country Care, Lockhart Corrections Center, Ted Breihan, Saguaro Workforce, Chick-fil-A, Bonham Pre-Kinder, Texas Workforce Commission, Central South Carpenters Regional Council Austin, Drive Safe Central Texas, Sundance Inn Health Care, Central Texas Medical Center, Mensor, Hays County Juvenile Center. P.E.C., Walgreens Pharmacy, Boys and Girls Club of South Central Texas, Cecorative Concrete Supply, Workforce Solutions, and Amazon.
