Gary Job Corps Participates In Highway Cleanup, Announces April Employee Of The Month

Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.

“PFC Kristian Menchaca Memorial” Highway Cleanup

Gary Job Corps’ corrections cadets volunteered for highway cleanup as part of the “Adopt-a-Highway” program on Highway 21.  PFC Kristian Menchaca was a Gary Job Corps’ graduate who lost his life in 2006 in Iraq while serving in the U.S. Army, the original Adopt-a-Highway program began right here in Texas in 1985. 

Since then, it’s grown into a nationally and internationally recognized litter-prevention-effort, saving taxpayers’ dollars and keeping our rights of way clean. 

For more than four years the Gary Job Corps Center has kept the two miles in the front of the center on Highway 21 litter free.

April Employee of the Month

“Director’s Award”

Gary Job Corps’ employee for the month of April was designated as the “Director’s Award” selected by the Center Director Patty Lankford.

“Rosalinda Moreno has been a God sent, I couldn’t have asked for a more efficient, caring, responsive, dedicated,  committed, and student focused staff for my assistant.” 

Stephanie Soileau came to her leadership role and made major improvements in her team’s moral and staff culture.”  And “Randolph Goodman, he is known as the ‘Wonderful Day Guy’ all over the center by students and staff, he provides the center with positive press and recognition on a weekly basis.  He truly is the BEST BCL in the country!!!”
