The Gary Job Corps Community Relations Council presented the Lockhart Correctional Facility with the Employer Appreciation Award for its support of the Gary Job Corps Mission. Lockhart Warden James Frawner has employed many of the graduates from the Corrections and Security vocations as Corrections Officers and soon will be utilizing the WBL (Work-Based-Learning) program, providing internships in administrative and maintenance positions.
The Warden stated that “ I have been very impressed with the professionalism shown by the Gary Graduates that we have hired and I would be very interested in exploring the WBL program to give the students the experience in the work world”. Elva Zdeb, Community Relations Council President stated “It is with pleasure that I recognized an employer like Warden Frawner that has given an opportunity to Gary Job Corps graduates to excel in the workforce. We are very excited that Lockhart will be joining the many local employers that are members of the WBL Program”.
The Lockhart facility provides rehabilitative programs to approximately 1,000 female offenders in Texas. Lockhart’s mission is to reduce recidivism by providing offenders with effective programming that leads to a better experience inside the facility and success after release. This is a unique partnership between Gary Job Corps and the Lockhart facility as both are operated by Management & Training Corporation.
