Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.
The Job Corps program is authorized by Title I-C of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (supersedes WIA 1998). For more information about the Job Corps program at a national level, please visit their Official Public Web Site.
Representatives Attend Greater Caldwell County Hispanic Chamber Gala
Gary Job Corps representatives Susanne Ritter and Randolph Goodman attended the 31st Annual Greater Caldwell County Hispanic Chamber Gala “Denim and Diamonds” held at the Lockhart Evening Lions Club building.
Chris Saldana, three-time Emmy-award winner journalist from Del Rio who serves as morning anchor for CBS’s Austin affiliate, was the featured speaker.
Lockhart Mayor Lew White and Lockhart ISD Superintendent Mark Estrada shared with the audience the state of the city and school district thanking the Hispanic Chamber for their support.
The attendees enjoyed the music by “EBROLUTION”, with the meal catered by Chisholm Trail BBQ.
Gary Job Corps Workforce Industry Council Meeting
The Gary Job Corps Career Technical Training department conducts a bi-annual Career Technical Training Assessment utilizing local community training partners to audit the training curriculum utilized at the Gary Center.
Melissa Valdez, Career Technical Training Manager for the Construction and Manufacturing department facilitated the overview conducted by employer partners.
To ensure that the training is current to employment standards, the assessors audited curriculum, tools, and equipment oversaw the trainees working in the trades.
