Gary Job Corps SGS Gives A Caring Hand To The San Marcos Animal Shelter

“Neighbors helping Neighbors.” Gary Job Corps has invested thousands of hours of volunteer efforts in collaboration with service organizations, natural disaster relief efforts and nursing facilities.

The Gary Job Corps Student Government Association presented the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter with a donation of $200 on Aug. 10.

Gary Job Corps has donated a total of $589.19 to the shelter now. Staff and students from the center have “Exemplified the giving spiriting” for over 17 years.

On Dec. 21, 2000, the San Marcos Job Corps center started by ringing bells for the Salvation Red Kettle at Wal-Mart.

Gary Job Corps has invested thousands of hours of volunteer efforts in collaboration with service organizations, natural disaster relief efforts and nursing facilities.  

Additionally, the center has raised thousands of dollars in aid for those affected by natural disasters, such as, the earthquakes in Haiti, tornadoes in Oklahoma, tsunamis in the Philippines, fires in Bastrop, central Texas floods.

The Job Corps center has also raised money for organizations like the San Marcos Youth Shelter, Hays-Caldwell County Women’s Center and other targeted agencies.
