Gary Job Corps Students Receive Their MAJAC, Volunteer At Summer Festival

Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.

The Job Corps program is authorized by Title I-C of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (supersedes WIA 1998). For more information about the Job Corps program at a national level, please visit their Official Public Web Site.

Gary Job Corps students receive their “MAJAC”

 Gary Job Corps Center celebrates three students this week for achieving their “MAJAC” (Military, Apprenticeship, Job, Advanced Trade, or College) after successfully graduating from Gary Job Corps.

Coleton Jameyson (pictured middle) has received a full scholarship to Huston-Tillotson University located in Austin, TX, Colin Rolike (pictured left) has received a job with Allied Universal and then will be going into the Marine Corps in October,  and Adam Wright (pictured right) has received a full-time job with Allied Universal. Great job GJCC students!

SGA Volunteering at Summer Festival

 Gary Job Corps Center’s Student Government Association (SGA) volunteered at the Embassy Suite’s Summer Festival in San Marcos, TX. Students ran carnival booths and games like inflatable obstacle course, ring toss, dunk tank, popcorn, snow cones, “toilet seat toss”, fishing, slip & slide, and musical chairs. Many employees, family, and friends enjoyed the festivities for the day.
