Gary Job Corps Welding Student Are Selected For Advanced Welding Program

Gary Job Corps’ welding students Joe Gonzales and James Hodge have been selected to attended the Advanced Welding Program at Northlands Job Corps in  Vergennes, Vermont.

The welding students showed proficiency in different cutting operations; oxy-fuel flame cutting, machine oxy-fuel gas cutting or track burner operations , plasma arc cutting and air carbon arc cutting, also in different metal arc welding operations such as shielded metal arc or STICK welding, gas metal arc or MIG welding, fluxcored arc welding, and gas tungsten or TIG welding. 

Also required from the student was a knowledge OSHA and EPA guidelines and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).  The advance welding program will take the students a year to complete learning metallurgy, pipe and plate welding with dissimilar metals.
