U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro came to San Marcos to share concerns on Senate Bill 4 along with the Program Coordinator for Cultural Hispano de San Marcos Gloria Salazar and former San Marcos Mayor Frank Arredondo.
Gary Job Corps representative Irma Pardo and Randolph Goodman attended the assembly and shared with Rep. Castro the accomplishments of the staff and students at the Gary Job Corps Center.
The Gary Job Corps Center, the largest of the 123 Job Corps centers in the United States, trains over 1400 students in 18 career technical training programs (Carpentry, Cement Masonry, Electrical, Residential Advisor, HVAC, Transportation Communication Union, Material Handling, Plastering, Welding, Certified Nurses Aid, Clinical Medical Assistant, Office Administration, Security Officer, Medical Assistant/Insurance Claims, Machinist, Pharmacy Technician, Correctional Officer, and Overhead Line Construction), and has contributed 3,524 community service hours in the local area in just one year.
