GBRA To Host Clean Rivers Program Steering Committee Meeting

SEGUIN — The annual Clean Rivers Program Steering Committee meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) River Annex building, 905 Nolan Street, Seguin, Texas.

The meeting, which is open to the public and sponsored by GBRA as well as the Upper Guadalupe River Authority, provides updates on the Clean Rivers Program activities within the Guadalupe River Basin. Lauren Willis, GBRA water quality permitting and project coordinator, says she’s looking forward to communicating information to the public on water quality monitoring and priorities.

“The meeting is a great opportunity to receive updates on many of the watersheds in the basin,” Willis said. “Committee members will be able to give their feedback for setting new basin priorities and monitoring activities.”

This year’s meeting agenda includes a review on bacterial source tracking in the Plum Creek Watershed, an update from the Edwards Aquifer Authority and an analysis on the alligator gar population in the Lower Guadalupe River by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

GBRA was established by the Texas Legislature in 1933 as a water conservation and reclamation district. GBRA provides stewardship for the water resources in its 10-county statutory district, which consists of Kendall, Comal, Hays, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Gonzales, DeWitt, Victoria, Calhoun and Refugio counties.
