George Strait’s Band “Ace in the Hole” Holding SM Concert

George Strait’s Band “Ace in the Hole” Holding SM Concert

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – – George Strait’s sound was born in San Marcos and locals are quickly snapping up tickets to a special concert commemorating the 40th anniversary of the forming of his original band.  A Special Evening with the Texas Jamm Band featuring members of George Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band is slated for May 2 at the Marc on the historic San Marcos Square. Only 350 tickets were issued for the Heritage Association of San Marcos (HASM) event, which also coincides with HASM’s 40th anniversary, and they’re going fast.

“We knew San Marcans loved George Strait but we’re tickled and a little amazed at the quick response,” said Cathy Dillon concert organizer and Chair of 2015 HASM Annual Heritage Home Tour. “I strongly encourage anyone who wants to see this great event to get their tickets today.”

Eight Ace in the Hole band members will be “coming home” on May 2 to perform the group’s major Strait hits, including local Hays and Comal Country residents Mike Daily, Ronnie Huckaby, Benny McArthur, and Joe Manuel; and lead vocalists Haydn Vitera, Tom Batts, and Dan Dreeben. The sound is mixed by the legendary Paul Rogers, Strait’s production manager for the past 31 years.

The Marc offers concert goers an opportunity to dance on the ground floor as well as enjoy preferred VIP seating upstairs.  Other highlights for the concert include full, cash-bar service on both levels and a buffet featuring heavy hors d’oevres and desserts in the VIP section.

This special night of music and local history is being presented as a highlight of the HASM’s annual Heritage Home Tour taking place on May 2 & 3 from Noon – 5 p.m. “Manors, Mancaves, Meadows & a Pigsty” will feature eight historic and unique properties throughout the San Marcos community that will be open to the public. For those traveling to San Marcos to take in the tour and concert events, overnight accommodations range from historic inns to traditional hotels at a variety of price points.

Tickets to the HASM Home Tour and Concert event are now on sale online. Special advance ticket purchase discounts and package pricing are available.  Tickets are also available weekdays at the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, Main Street San Marcos and at Cottage Kitchen (the original structure saved by the founders of the HASM members 40 years ago) during Friday lunch service.
