Get Up Close And Personal With San Marcos Mardi Gras Krewe At Price Center

San Marcos, TX – A two-week pop-up display at the Price Center in downtown San Marcos features a visual display of gowns and costumes, printed matter, and photos of annual Royalty that helps tell the story of San Marcos’ Mistick Krewe of Okeanos, the creators of the annual Mardi Gras parade and celebrations in San Marcos.

After its most successful parade in 2020, the Krewe has had to retool for 2021.

With no parade, ball, or other large public gatherings, the pop-up display at the Price Center, the 2021 collectible art poster by local artist Morgan Egan, and “Yardi Gras,” a house-decorating effort sponsored by the Krewe, will help keep the Mardi Gras spirit and celebration alive in San Marcos this year.

The Price Center’s Mardi Gras pop-up display features two former queens’ gowns, a king’s robe, attendants’ costumes, several crowns and tiaras, portraits of the annual King & Queen Okeanos since the first were named in 2012, and a variety of annual art posters through the years.

The display is open to the public Mon.-Sat., Feb. 1-16.
