Staff Reports

On Saturday, August 11, a Goodnight Middle School teacher was arrested for improper relations with a student.

Hays County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Rodney Guerrero at 2:30 AM Saturday on a warrant.

Guerrero is the Boys Athletic Coordinator at Goodnight; he teaches Health, PE and athletics and coaches San Marcos little league baseball.

According to San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, he has been teaching for 14 years and has served as athletics coordinator for 12 years.

Guerrero was booked into Hays County Jail and released Saturday night on a $15,000 surety bond. According to his arrest records, Guerrero currently lives in Kyle. San Marcos Police Department is handling the case.

San Marcos CISD released the following statement.

“Earlier this summer, law enforcement officials contacted the district regarding allegations of possible misconduct by a Goodnight employee. The district immediately placed the employee on administrative leave and cooperated with law enforcement.

While the district was cooperating with law enforcement officials during the investigation, notification to the community on the allegations was based on when the police would allow the district to share any information. A letter to the campus community will be sent home informing them of the situation that has taken place.

In San Marcos CISD, the safety of our students is paramount as we strive to maintain a safe learning environment for all students.”
