Gov. Abbott Establishes Statewide Face Covering Requirement, Issues Proclamation To Limit Gatherings

AUSTIN — Governor Greg Abbott Thursday issued an Executive Order requiring all Texans to wear a face-covering over the nose and mouth in public spaces in counties with 20 or more positive COVID-19 cases, with few exceptions.

The Governor also issued a proclamation giving mayors and county judges the ability to impose restrictions on some outdoor gatherings of over 10 people and making it mandatory that, with certain exceptions, people cannot be in groups larger than ten and must maintain six feet of social distancing from others.

“Wearing a face covering in public is proven to be one of the most effective ways we have to slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Governor Abbott. “We have the ability to keep businesses open and move our economy forward so that Texans can continue to earn a paycheck, but it requires each of us to do our part to protect one another—and that means wearing a face-covering in public spaces. Likewise, large gatherings are a clear contributor to the rise in COVID-19 cases. Restricting the size of groups gatherings will strengthen Texas’ ability to corral this virus and keep Texans safe. We all have a responsibility to slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep our communities safe. If Texans commit to wearing face coverings in public spaces and follow the best health and safety practices, we can both slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep Texas open for business. I urge all Texans to wear a face-covering in public, not just for their own health, but for the health of their families, friends, and for all our fellow Texans.”

Additionally, the Governor released a new video message to coincide with his Executive Order, encouraging Texans to do their part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and keep their communities safe.

The video can be downloaded at this link and can also be viewed on YouTube.

  • The COVID hysteria is a testament to the blessings and curse of modern medicine. I doubt that had this happened in 1920, people would have even noticed. But because we have modern medicine, we are able to artificially extend life. And now, because of modern medicine, we are able to gnats-behind the cause of death. Had this been 1920, we might not have had ANY deaths from the 'Rona. According to Berkley, the average life expectancy was only 54 years old. Yet, now it is well into the 70s. And who is dying from the 'Rona? People 60+.

We should count our blessings. Modern medicine has performed miracles. But it has also led to a loss of perspective. We need to remember everyone eventually dies. The old and infirm will die sooner. Its sad but it is unavoidable. Thus, we need to make the most of our time here. Live a life worth living. Don't let your loss of perspective stand in that way. It will be okay. The sun is shining and the air is clean. Enjoy!

  • Dear Gov. Abbott (aka Wrecking Crew)

    1. FACTS: I will NOT wear the mask, and you say you'll enforce this with a $250 fine.

    2. So maybe your local San Marcos agent, Madam Hughson, can explain to the San Marcos Corridor News how this will be enforced, as in a written statement, as governor, you orally pronounced that, “Throwing Texans in jail who have had their businesses shut down through no fault of their own is nonsensical, and I will not allow it to happen,” You next rendered this into an order retroactive to April 2 and said it "supersedes local orders and if correctly applied should free Shelley Luther" namely a business owner who defied your previous order to close, and was subsequently jailed.

    3. Since then you've changed your mind. You now admit you just want our money, in saying "This [latest] executive order hereby prohibits confinement in jail as a penalty for the violation of any face-covering order by any jurisdiction. Order GA-28 is hereby amended to delete from paragraph number 15 the phrase: 'but no jurisdiction can impose a civil or criminal penalty for failure to wear a face covering.'"

    4. So how do you intend to enforce this without jailing me, as I'm not going to appear at any hearing convened upon my failure to wear a mask. Moreover, I won't sign any citation issued by our local police, there's no way I'm going to promise to appear at any hearing based on your bogus authority.

So are you going throw me in jail for not signing and not appearing? More, even if your attorney general filed a lawsuit with me as a defendant and served me with the process, I would still refuse to appear in court. That means you'd take a default judgment against me and you do know what a default judgment means governor.

It means the law allows me at any time in the future to challenge the authority of your $250 lawsuit.

    5. So those are the facts, governor. Not to worry though. Your local enforcer Madam Jane Hughson will be glad to fill in all the unknowns with her usual and appropriate imagination.

  • I simply said that Collin County Judge Chris Hill has now blown the whistle on actions taken last May to redefine a “Covid” case, as now appears to have opened the door to declaring a massive increase of "Covid victims" – all to match the mainstream media line that a “second wave” was on the way.

In a Commissioners Court hearing for Collin County on May 18th, it was revealed that while previously the determination of a Covid “case” was a confirmed test result, the definition was suddenly changed to count “probable” cases as “cases.” At the same time, the threshold for determining “probable” was lowered to a ridiculous level.

As Judge Hill said at that May 18th meeting, “If you have a subjective fever and you have a headache and you live in Collin County, you now meet the qualifications to be a probable COVID patient. It is remarkable how low the standard is now.”

To make it even scarier, once a “probable” case was determined based on possibly unrelated subjective criteria, up to 15 people in possible contact with that “probable” case were also listed as “probable cases.” And “probable cases” are thus also considered positive Covid cases.

Deaths from coronavirus – including even the deaths “with” coronavirus rather than deaths “from” coronavirus – are down more than 90 percent since the peak in April. The decline in deaths continues. That means we are closer to the “herd immunity” that will finally eliminates this virus.

How does Governor Abbott view these facts? Lock 'em down, and let God sort out the business failures and suicides.
