Graduate College To Host 11th Annual International Research Conference

SAN MARCOS – The Graduate College at Texas State University will host the Eleventh Annual International Research Conference for Graduate Students Nov. 5 thru Nov. 7.

The conference will take place in the LBJ Student Center on the San Marcos Campus Nov. 5-6 and in the Avery Building on the Round Rock campus Nov. 7.

More than 150 graduate students from various disciplines at Texas State and other institutions in Texas and beyond will be presenting their research papers and posters.

The conference is free and open to all (including interested undergraduate students), though registration is required by both participants and attendees.

The conference will open with a research panel consisting of award-winning faculty 5 to 6 PM, Nov. 5. A reception and poster session will follow from 6-7:30 p.m. Concurrent panel sessions with student presentations will take place 9 AM to 3:30 PM, Nov. 6.

Bharati Naik, a broadcast journalist based in London, will deliver the keynote address, “Truth and Diversity in Journalism: Why They Matter More Than Ever,” at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 6. Top master’s and doctoral papers will be recognized.

The Round Rock Campus session will open with Walter E. Horton, Jr., associate vice president for research and federal relations and chief research officer, delivering the talk, “Impact of Academic Research,” at 5 PM, Nov. 7 in the Avery Building. A reception and poster session will follow at 5:30 to 6:30 PM.

The International Research Conference for Graduate Students is sponsored by Common Experience, College of Applied Arts, McCoy College of Business Administration, College of Education, College of Fine Arts and Communication, College of Health Professions, College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Engineering, Office of International Affairs, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Graduate House of Representatives and Student Affairs.
