GSMP, Amazon.com, Inc. Project Recognized In 2015 Deal Of The Year Awards

Business Facilities Magazine Recognizes San Marcos Amazon.com, Inc. Project in 2015 Deal of the Year Awards

Greater San Marcos Partnership Honored with Prestigious Industry Recognition for 2015 Amazon Fulfillment Center

Business Facilities, one of the leading publications for Site Selection Consultants, has awarded the Greater San Marcos Partnership with a 2015 Deal of the Year Award honorable mention for its work on the 2015 Amazon.com, Inc. fulfillment center, located in San Marcos, TX.

“On behalf of the Greater San Marcos Partnership, I thank Business Facilities for this prestigious recognition as a 2015 Deal of the Year Award honorable mention,” said Adriana Cruz, President of the Greater San Marcos Partnership. “This project was a collaborative effort between GSMP, City of San Marcos, and Hays County, and included the support of the Texas Department of Transportation. This acknowledgment further affirms the success that comes when the community works together and will only add to the momentum of promoting the Greater San Marcos region.”

“GSMP’s commitment to our community and region is evident by what they’ve achieved in a short period of time,” said John Schott, Market President of Frost and GSMP Chairman of the Board. “I am proud to Chair this fine organization and look forward to many more awards for our economic development organization.”

“The 2015 Economic Development Deal of the Year Awards were our most competitive ever, with 30 project nominations spanning 18 states,” said Business Facilities Editor in Chief Jack Rogers. “All of these projects were high-impact developments worthy of consideration for our top awards, so our blue-ribbon panel of judges really had to roll up their sleeves and dig into the details to pick the winners.”

The Greater San Marcos Partnership was the only recipient to not represent a state or metro organization. The Gold and Silver Awards went to the Greater Houston Partnership for its Goodman Global Group’s consolidated campus and South Carolina Department of Commerce for Volvo’s first North American assembly plant, respectively.

The fulfillment center was announced in August 2015 and the 855,000 square foot facility is currently under construction with plans to be fully operational this fall.
