GSMP hosting local job fair designed to help hospitality and leisure industry workers

HAYS COUNTY, Texas – The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP), the economic development organization for Hays and Caldwell Counties, will host Spring 2021 Get Hired! Job & Education Fair – an event designed to help hospitality and leisure industry workers who have been displaced due to COVID-19.

The event, presented by GSMP with Frost Bank as the title sponsor, will take place on Tuesday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Embassy Suites City of San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center (1001 E. McCarty Lane, San Marcos, TX 78666). The event is FREE and job seekers are encouraged to register in advance at gethiredsmtx.eventbrite.com.

Multiple employers and organizations are expected to attend, offering jobs and new industry training opportunities. Employers and organizations will offer job interviews, resume reviews, and education tracks that can assist displaced job seekers in finding a new career.

“COVID-19 disproportionately displaced workers from the hospitality, retail, and leisure sectors of our local economy,” said Barbara Thomason, director of business retention and expansion for GSMP. “This event will aid our region in its COVID-19 economic recovery by directly connecting job seekers with employers who have openings.”

Employers with job openings who wish to participate are invited to visit gethiredfair.eventbrite.com to secure a spot to meet with job seekers.

The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) is the 501c6 regional economic development organization serving the city of San Marcos and Hays & Caldwell Counties, focused on positioning the region for a wider diversity of quality jobs with higher wages. The GSMP mission is to increase economic opportunities for all in the heart of the Texas Innovation Corridor. Visit greatersanmarcostx.com for more information.
