Gumby’s Pizza San Marcos will honor the community on Pi Day, March 14, by giving back.
March 14, Pi Day, will mark the business’s tenth anniversary as part of the San Marcos community and its first anniversary in its new location. Gumby’s announced they will be selling all regular slices of pizza for $1.50 and donating 100 percent of the slice sales to the Hays County Food Bank.
In addition to the donation, Gumby’s will host a free concert with a performance by Audic Empire at 6:30 PM. The event will include free beer, balloon animals, a spicy wing eating contest and giveaways throughout the day while supplies last.
Gumby’s opened in its original location on Guadalupe Street in San Marcos on January 8th, 2009. Gumby’s was the crazy dream of brothers Forrest Higdon, Adam Higdon, and their father John Higdon.
“We believed that San Marcos was in need of a local pizza place that delivered quality pizza with the consistency of a national chain,” Forrest said.
At their original location, the pizzeria initially offered delivery and take-out orders. Over the years, the business expanded into a dining room and eventually moved to its new location at 312 W. Hopkins last year.
“We would love for the community to come out and enjoy a slice while raising money to help feed the area’s less fortunate,” Adam added. “We feel very fortunate to call San Marcos home & we want to give back to the community that supports us.”
