San Marcos, TX – The whimsical holiday art gourds and Day of the Dead alters of Barbara Abrego, new art from the SMCISD K-12 Youth Art Program, and a display of more than 30 jack-o’-lantern’s — from vintage to contemporary – are among the treats the Price Center will be serving up for October’s Halloween-inspired Third Thursday Walkabout, Oct. 18 from 6-9 p.m.
A “spooky sound track” of tunes from films, pop culture and TV will set the tone musically, and a solo art show by Veronique Hahn, a new quilt display, pop-up art vendors and complimentary refreshments will complete the festivities, which are free and open to all.
“For lots of folks, Halloween is more fun than Christmas, “said Clay DeStefano, executive director, who is also the collector behind the Center’s jack-o’-lantern display. “We’re encouraging folks to dress in costume as they
walkabout.”
Guests to the Price Center can easily stroll to any number of the other participating sites downtown to take in more art, live music, and more. Simply look for the Third Thursday Downtown Walkabout seal or visit downtownsanmarcos.org or @smtxthirdthursday on Facebook.
