Hays Central Appraisal District Seeks Applicants For Appraisal Review Board

Meetings are typically held 1-2 times per month, except during the months of June-August, when the ARB must convene several times a week. Hearing times typically begin at 9am and end at 5:00 PM.

The Taxpayer Liaison Officer for the Hays Central Appraisal District is accepting applications for consideration from candidates seeking appointment as Appraisal Review Board (ARB) members.  Service on the ARB would begin January 2019 for the 2019-2020 term.

Applications are available online at hayscad.com or at the Hays Central Appraisal District office at 21001 North IH 35 Kyle, Texas, or by calling 512-268-2522. The primary responsibility of the ARB is to weigh evidence and provide resolution of matters relating to appraisal, exemptions and challenges that cannot be resolved informally with the Appraisal District.

Individuals seeking appointment must be a resident of Hays County for at least two years, must be up to date on property tax payments, and must not have served for at least a year if they have served all or part of three consecutive terms. An ARB member must be available for hearings at the Appraisal District Office in Kyle.

Meetings are typically held 1-2 times per month, except during the months of June-August, when the ARB must convene several times a week. Hearing times typically begin at 9am and end at 5:00 PM. Additionally, hearing times may be extended to include an evening and/or a weekend.

ARB members do not work for the Appraisal District, nor does the appointment constitute a full-time job, but members are compensated when conducting hearings.

Applicants are encouraged to have real estate or appraisal knowledge or background in law; however, this is not a requirement. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, October 31, 2018 to:

HCAD Taxpayer Liaison Officer

Attn: Deborah Waterman

Hays Central Appraisal District

21001 North IH 35

Kyle, Texas 78640

Or:  tlo@hayscad.com

Upon receipt of applications, the Taxpayer Liaison Officer will forward the applications to the Local Administrative District Judge where consideration and selection of appointees will commence.
