Hays CISD Announces New Carpenter Hill ES Principal

At the June 24, 2019, board meeting, the Hays Consolidated Independent School District (Hays CISD) Board of Trustees approved hiring Ginger Bordeau as the new principal for Carpenter Hill Elementary School.

Bordeau, who is currently serving as the assistant principal at Buda Elementary School, has a career in education that spans more than 25 years and has been a Hays CISD educator since 2002.

Earlier this year, she was named the assistant principal of the year for the central Texas region by the Texas Elementary and Principals Supervisor Association (TEPSA). She was chosen out of all of the other assistant principals in 57 school districts spanning 17 counties. 

“Ginger will make an outstanding academic leader for Carpenter Hill Elementary School,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright. “She has been a part or our Hays CISD family for a long time and has a strong instructional background as a teacher, an instructional coach, and a campus leader. One of her strengths is the ability to forge solid relationships with students, teachers and staff, and parents.”

Bordeau began her education career as a teacher at in 1993 at St. Ignatius Martyr School in Austin. Between 1997 and 2002, she taught in La Porte, Clear Creek, and Del Valle ISDs.

She joined the Hays CISD team in 2002as a math and science teacher at Wallace Middle School. She taught at Science Hall and Negley Elementary Schools before taking a position as a Hays CISD instructional coach in 2012. She became the assistant principal at Tom Green Elementary School in 2016 and was hired as the assistant principal at Buda Elementary the following year.

“My expertise lies in overseeing areas such as mentoring and coaching, community partnership building, and policy implementation to achieve improved academic performance and student experiences,” said Bordeau when applying for the position. “From conceptualizing and establishing forward-thinking development plans to collaborating with teachers and staff to achieve consensus across multiple levels, I excel at directing strategic enhancements to drive goal achievement. I believe communicating openly and collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents is critical to the success of a campus and its students.”

“Parents and students are going to love Ginger as their principal,” said Tim Savoy, Hays CISD chief communication officer. “She has the right combination of experience and passion to lead the campus to the top.”

Bordeau earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Mississippi a master’s degree in education from the University of Texas, Permian Basin.

In addition to earning the TEPSA honors in 2019, Bordeau was named the Hays CISD Assistant Principal of the Year in 2018.
