Kyle Police this morning took into custody Jonathan Proud, a former teacher, coach and interim athletic director at Lehman High School.
Proud resigned his coaching and teaching position at Hays CISD Wednesday morning, February 14, 2018. He was subsequently taken into custody at Hays CISD Central Office by officers, who served him with an arrest warrant for one count of possession of child pornography. This case does not involve any Hays CISD students.
Hays CISD was alerted late Sunday night by the Kyle Police Department that they were seeking an arrest warrant for Proud. He was immediately placed on administrative leave Monday morning and was not allowed on campus or near any students.
Proud had been a coach at Lehman High School and an employee of Hays CISD since August 2016. He was the school’s power-lifting coach. Additionally, Proud had been serving as the interim athletic coordinator at Lehman High School since January 18, 2018, but was not being considered, nor did he apply, for the full-time position.
Hays CISD has notified the Texas State Board of Educator Certification’s Office of Investigations regarding this matter.
Kyle officials say no further information will be released due to the case being an active investigation.
