Hays CISD Names New Principal For Science Hall ES

Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright announced Tuesday that current Science Hall Elementary School Assistant Principal Iric Ramos will serve as the new principal at the campus effective immediately.

Ramos, a career professional educator with 15 years of experience, replaces Karen Zuniga who was hired in June to become the principal at Lehman High School.

“Iric is the right fit for Science Hall Elementary. He knows the students, the campus and the community, and he is positioned to make the change in principals a smooth process for everyone,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright. “He served as a key member of the leadership team that not only brought the campus out of ‘Improvement Required’ status but helped the campus go from a failing grade to a ‘B’ in one year. Iric is a collaborative leader and a systems thinker and will continue the trajectory of student achievement success at Science Hall.

Ramos began his career in education in 2004 as an elementary school bilingual special education teacher in Austin ISD. In 2010, he joined the Hays CISD family as a bilingual special education teacher at Science Hall Elementary, where he taught for two years.

In 2012, he was tapped to become a campus leader in Hays CISD and has served as an assistant principal at Simon Middle School, Camino Real Elementary School, and Science Hall. Ramos has also served as the principal of elementary summer school for the past two years.

“Great things are happening at Science Hall Elementary and I am excited about being able to lead the campus and continue that momentum,” said Ramos. “We have amazing students and parents and there is no other place I’d rather be than on this team, continuing to build upon our successes.”

Ramos earned his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, in San Marcos. He also holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Concordia University in Austin and a bilingual teacher certification from the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg.
