On August 1, Hays Consolidated Independent School District released its first newsletter to parents with all the latest updates and schedules for the 2018-2019 school year.
According to the latest demographic projections, the school district will welcome more than 20,000 students for the first time in history.
Once the district’s 2017 bond is completed, Hays CISD will operate 25 campuses in total including 14 elementary schools, 6 middles schools, three comprehensive high schools, an alternative campus and a high school campus of choice.
Uhland Elementary School will open its doors on August 11 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The campus pays homage to the original Uhland school and City of Uhland. School officials are inviting the public to the event. Individuals who attended the original Uhland School will be honored during the ceremony; attendees will also have an opportunity to tour the facility afterward.
Johnson High School and the new Buda Elementary campus are on schedule to open in August 2019.
In other news, the school district has released the upcoming schedule for the 2018-2019 school years. With the first day of school being August 27, the dates for freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors to pick up their schedules were announced.

Hays CISD will bring back the First Day of School Photo event again this year. Photos of Hays CISD students on the first day of school submitted by parents are shared on the district’s Facebook page for the whole community to see.
The district also announced the opening of a new Hays CISD Clothes Closet; all donations of new and gently used clothing will benefit students whose families are experiencing financial difficulty.
Hays CISD is also accepting school supplies donations; all donations can be delivered to the district’s main office in Kyle. Parents who need assistance with school supplies should contact the counselor at their child’s school.
