HAYS CO. SHERIFFS DEPT: Lehman High School Explorer’s Post 1911

On Saturday, February 21, 2015, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Lehman High School Explorer Post 1911 competed in the 2015 Central Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Competition at Akins High School in Austin, Texas. The team competed along with over 200 participants comprising 23 teams from across the state. This is the first full-year of membership for this team comprised of 18 students, freshman through senior, at Lehman High School in Kyle.
 
The team placed third in the “Active Shooter/Officer Down” scenario. This is a stellar achievement for this novice team who worked tirelessly to perfect their skills. The team meets at least once a week after school for two hours in classroom and practical settings. They receive training from current law enforcement officers to expose them to a future career in law enforcement.
 
Benefits of the Explorer Program include character development, leadership development, community service, teamwork, social development and self-confidence. It is a nationwide program affiliated with Learning for Life, a subdivision of the Boy Scouts of America.
