Hays County Sheriff’s Office Captain Julie Villalpando graduated with distinction from the ten-week F.B.I. National Police Academy in Quantico, VA on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Captain Villalpando is a life-long San Marcos resident and graduate of Texas State University with a B.S. in Applied Arts and Science with an emphasis in Criminal Justice.

Captain Villalpando began her career at the Sheriff’s Office as a receptionist in 1991 and through her own merits promoted through the ranks.

In April 2017, Julie was named Captain of the Corrections Bureau. In this position, she supervises 150 jail, maintenance, and human resources personnel who oversee the day-to-day operations of the jail and management of 600 inmates. She is proactively engaged as an advisor with county officials and contractors who are building our new jail expansion.

The FBI National Academy is a professional course of study for both United States and international law enforcement and correctional leaders/managers. Captain Villalpando, a twenty-eight-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, was nominated by Sheriff Gary Cutler to attend this prestigious institution of higher learning, which is accredited by the University of Virginia.

Captain Villalpando attended classes dealing with contemporary law enforcement issues, employment law, essentials for law enforcement leaders, emotional intelligence, and fitness. With classmates from all over the United States and abroad she has been able to network extensively and bring back valuable knowledge that has enriched her and will further enrich our agency.

Captain Villalpando’s graduation has brought to fruition a major goal of Sheriff Cutler.  To have a command staff with an accomplished level of training both academically and in law enforcement issues has been met. Sheriff Cutler’s command staff now all hold college degrees and have graduated from the FBI National Academy.

Chief Jamie Page graduated from Western Illinois University with a B.S. in Law Enforcement Administration and graduated from the FBI Academy class #173, Captain Michael Davenport graduated from Texas State University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and is an FBI Academy graduate class #259 and Captain Mark Cumberland graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and is an FBI Academy graduate class #264.

Sheriff Cutler congratulates Captain Villalpando on her accomplishment and is excited for her to bring all that she has learned back to the Sheriff’s Office.
