This year early voting starts on Tuesday, October 13, and runs through October 31, with election day on Tuesday, November 3, and new this year Hays County has set up Super Voting Centers.
Super Voting Centers will each have 24 machines, two check-in lines, and double the staff to help move larger volumes of voters.
Election day is Tuesday, November 3. Voters can find all Super Voting Centers, early voting locations, and election day polling locations below.
During early voting, any voter who is entitled to vote an early ballot by personal appearance may do so at the Main Early Voting Site or any Temporary Branch site.
Because Texas State University’s LBJ Student Center, which has been an on-campus voting location in the past, is not able to be used this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, university officials offered its Performing Arts Center (PAC) as an alternate location for on-campus voting this year.
Jennifer Anderson, Hays County Elections Administrator said the university location has been the fifth or sixth busiest polling location in Hays County in the past.
This year, the Texas State Campus will receive 19 days to vote vs. just on election day.
She added that for the November election, the PAC will have 12 polling booths (in previous elections the university had eight voting booths), as well as two check-in lines and a new station outside that, will be able to help student voters with issues that normally hold up the voting lines.
Additionally, Texas State has offered to assist voters with adhering to social distancing. Inside, poll workers and signage will help voters adhere to social distancing.
Emergency and Limited ballots are available at the Election Office, 712 S. Stagecoach Trail, Suite 1045, San Marcos, TX.
Hays County now has a Countywide Polling Program, which will allow voting at any polling site during early voting as well as on Election Day, November 5.
Most of the locations will be familiar to voters who have cast ballots in Hays County recently, but a few have changed due to schools and churches opting out of serving as voting centers.
Anderson added the county will be utilizing the same contactless voting that was used during the Primary Run-Off election in July.
Voters will receive a Q-tip and/or a glove to use to cast their votes on the machines, which will be sanitized at ten-minute intervals.
The November election ballot will include local school board elections as well as a special election for the City of San Marcos City Council Place 5.
