The Hays County Commissioners Court authorized the County Judge to execute a Padilla Consultation Agreement between Hays County and Capital Area Private Defender Service Tuesday.
The agreement involved the Regional Padilla Compliance Pilot Project to be paid for by a technical assistance grant awarded by the Texas Indigent Defense Commission.
According to the agenda, the county formerly had a similar agreement with MyPadilla for Padilla Consultation services funded through the same grant. My Padilla’s agreement terminated on Oct. 31, 2020.
CAPDS will take over providing the Padilla consultation services effective immediately and will continue through March 31, 2022.
Commissioners approved the agreement 4-0 with Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra absent.
