Hays County, City Offices To Close For Labor Day

The first state bill to establish an official Labor Day holiday was introduced into the New York legislature, but the first to become law was passed by Oregon on February 21, 1887.

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County and local city offices will be closed Monday, September 3, to observe Labor Day.

Offices will reopen at their regular times on Tuesday, September 4. All City of Buda offices, including the Buda Public Library, are closed on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 in observance of Labor Day.

Commissioners Court will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the Hays County Courthouse, 111 E. San Antonio St., San Marcos. The public is invited to attend or watch the livestream/archive of the meeting.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, “Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”
