Hays County Clerk’s Office Awarded ‘Exemplary’ Recognition

“Most offices have only one or two people who deal with vital statistics, but everyone in our office is cross-trained to manage vital statistics in order to serve the public better.”

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Commissioners Court congratulated the Hays County Clerk’s Office in December for earning the Five Star Exemplary Award from the State Health Department’s Bureau of Vital Statistics.

The award is given to Vital Statistics Partners who understand the importance of vital statistics and its impact on Texas citizens. The award honors Partners who go above and beyond the duties of birth and death registration by attending trainings and keeping up with the latest legislation and trends.

“It’s no easy task for Hays County Clerk’s Office to earn this award,” County Clerk Liz Q. Gonzalez said. “Most offices have only one or two people who deal with vital statistics, but everyone in our office is cross-trained to manage vital statistics in order to serve the public better.” She noted that the office has earned the Five Star Award in the past, but this is the first time to achieve Exemplary status.
