Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Commissioners Court Tuesday proclaimed October 2 as National Night Out in Hays County, and invited residents to participate in one of the many local gatherings to promote safety and meet neighbors and law enforcement personnel.
In Hays County, the Sheriff’s Office and Constables’ Offices will be actively involved in neighborhood events.
“National Night Out gives us the opportunity to go into the neighborhoods and meet face to face with the people we serve, answer questions, and explain the ever-changing technology we use to help fight crime,” Sheriff Gary Cutler said. “Most importantly it gives us an opportunity to tell them how important they are to us – we can’t be in every neighborhood at all times, and we rely on our citizens to keep us informed,” he said, noting that most people carry cell phones and can be “eyes and ears” on the ground for law enforcement. “We look forward each year to this meeting,” he said.
