Hays County Commissioners To Considers Items Regarding Feral Hog Abatement, Parking Expansion At The Government Center

This morning the Hays County Commissioners will discuss and consider possible action to authorize payment to Celluar Controlled Products for the Feral Hog Abatement Program and to approve a company to provide plans, specifications and estimate services for a parking lot at the Government Center.

The feral hog program consists of controlled wireless traps, which has an equipment maintenance fee for service, according to the agenda.

The agenda also states the funds to cover the expenditure is available within the grant budget. The expenditure is listed as $599.40.

Commissioners will also discuss and consider possible action to approve the selection of Doucet and Associates to provide Plans, Specifications and Estimates Service for a parking lot at the Government Center.

The additional parking will help serve Hays County’s growth and address current parking issues being experienced at the center by residents and staff.

This year marked the addition of County Court-At-Law Office #3 to the Hays County Government Center to help with the county’s current caseload.

In other news, commissioners will vote to amend the Sheriff’s Office Discretionary Fund for the purchase of computer equipment for the Jail Division.

The Sheriff’s Office has authorized the use of State Drug Forfeiture Funds for the purchase of four Surface Pro Packages with monitors. The computer equipment will assist existing positions in the Jail who are tasked with specialized assignments.

According to the agenda, the specialized assignments consist of training for direct supervision as well as other courses, the preparation, and completion of employment backgrounds for the agency, as well as recruiting purposes.

The agenda states the total cost of Surface Pro’s and monitors is listed as $7,975 and requires a budget amendment.

Commissioners Court will convene at 9 AM at the Hays County Historic Courthouse on the third floor.
