Hays County Food Bank distribution updated schedule

Schedule Effective September 1 through the end of 2021.

Hays County — Hays County Food Bank will have an updated distribution schedule beginning on September 1, 2021. Social distancing is still in effect and masks are encouraged at each distribution.

In order to receive food assistance, you must meet one of the following:

  • Have a household income at or below the 185% of the Federal Poverty Level.
  • Participate in one of the following government assistance programs:
    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • National School Lunch Program (free or reduced school meals)
    • Medicaid
  • Have a temporary food emergency such as a loss of job, loss of sole provider, disaster, etc.

Monday Distribution Changing Location and Type

The San Marcos distribution on Monday will be changing to a drive-through distribution and moving to the parking lot of the San Marcos Public Library. It will remain at the same time, 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM. Clients will enter from the San Marcos Library side of the parking lot and exit through the San Marcos Activity Center parking lot. Please be sure to follow the signs and clear everything from the trunk of your vehicles before you arrive.

The first distribution will take place on September 13th as the food bank is closed on September 6th in observance of Labor Day. The final distribution at the San Marcos Recreation Hall will be on Monday, August 30th.

New Distribution in Wimberley

There will be a monthly food bank distribution in Wimberley at Cypress Creek Church. Check the schedule below for dates.

San Marcos Library and Activity Center Parking Lot

Enter through San Marcos Library Parking Lot

Tuesday – Kyle – Walk-Up

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church

Thursday – Buda – Drive-Through

12:00 PM – 12:45 PM

One Wednesday a Month – Wimberley – Drive-Through 

  • September 8

  • December 1

Hays County Food Bank would like to remind everyone of the policy and procedures associated with these distributions. 

For Walk-Up Distribution, Clients Must:

  • Provide their own boxes/bags.
  • Form an orderly line (line is not official until the Distribution Coordinator arrives on site).
    • Only one member per household is allowed in the pick-up line.
    • No line jumping.
    • No joining friends/family who are already in line.

For Drive-Through Distribution, Clients Must:

  • Clear an area in the trunk of their car or bed of their truck for food before arriving at a distribution.
  • Form an orderly line in the marked area of the parking lot.
  • Follow all directions of staff members or distribution leaders.
  • When it is your turn, pop your trunk.
    • If your trunk does not open, the food bank will place your food on the hood of your vehicle.
    • You may then get out and put it in your car once the team member has stepped away. They will not put anything in the interior of your car.
