Public food distributions will remain outdoors and drive-thru only until further notice. All team members will continue to wear PPE and practice safe social distancing whenever possible.
Clients are encouraged to limit the amount of people in their vehicle when they come to a distribution and have a space cleared in the trunk or bed of their vehicle before they arrive at the distribution.
Hays County Food Bank team members will not place food within the body of a vehicle; only the trunk or bed.
If that is not a viable place, they will place the food on the hood of your vehicle and step away for you to finish the process.
Households may visit ONE of the following distribution events each week:
Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (801 N. Burleson, Kyle)
12:00 PM – 12:45 PM
Wednesday at Kyle First Baptist Church (400 W. Center St., Kyle)
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Wednesday in the CFPO Parking Lot (333 Reimer Ave., San Marcos)
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Thursday at The Connection Church (1235 S. Loop 4)
12:00 PM – 12:45 PM
New clients will be asked self-reporting questions determining eligibility and then be given a card to place on their dashboard upon further visits to a distribution.
This dashboard card will make it easier for the food bank team to check-in and administer food to the household with no contact.
In order to qualify for food assistance, you must meet one of the following:
Have a household income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Participate in one of the following government assistance programs:
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
National School Lunch Program (free or reduced school meals)
Medicaid
Have a temporary food emergency such as a loss of income, loss of sole provider, etc.

No vehicle = no food.
That totally eliminates those who don't own a car.
Another typical decision made by the Director of the Hays County Food Bank who incidentally,
just happens to make seventy-thousand dollars a year, plus health benefits and expenses
given her toward the goal of providing food to those least fortunate, of whom I am one.
When I brought this decision to the attention of Director Ms. Eleanor Owen-Oshan, several months ago,
she simply told me to get lost. However, Ms. Oshan, being a native of New York state, cannot herself
be accused of being lost. She came here to obtain a good paying job in a charity sector where
she may remain unaccountable to both reason or pity. Thus, she is right where she wants to be.
