Hays County Food Bank Welcomes Two New Staff Members

 

The Hays County Food Bank is proud to welcome two new members to our staff, Melissa Reed and Chadwic Layne. Both have a passion for helping others, and we know that they will be a great asset to our team. Melissa has already proven that, as she began her employment right before the recent Memorial Day weekend flooding occurred. She is from Wimberley, Texas, and although there was no flooding in her immediate area, the flood affected her indirectly. However, she was able to jump right in and make an immediate impact on meeting both the food bank’s regular demands as well as the increased demands due to the flood.

 

Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Emory University and brings 7 years of nonprofit experience to the food bank. She is passionate about feeding the hungry, homelessness, and veteran’s affairs. Her previous work in development, event planning, and fundraising will aid her in assisting the food insecure in Hays County as the Development and Special Events Coordinator.

 

Chadwic is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and served in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from St. Edward’s University and brings his passion of helping others to the Hays County Food Bank. Chadwic is involved in his community and has organized his peers into a ‘grass roots’ association that advocates for positive community engagement. We firmly believe that his time in the military and his passion for people will make him a terrific fit as the new Client Services Coordinator.
