Hays County Food Bank held their Volunteer Appreciation Night at the Dunbar Center Tuesday evening where that celebrated their volunteers with fun games, awards, prizes, and refreshments.

Awards were given to volunteers with letters of appreciation, Luis Plaza-Munet was given the MVP Award for his 600 hours that he dedicated to the Hays County Food Bank.

The Gary Job Corps Center was awarded the “Food Bank Traveling Trophy” for 2014 for all the donations and volunteerism.

Hays County Food Bank and Gary Job Corps has held a long standing partnership for over 10 years and the Gary staff and students have donated thousands of pounds of food, hundreds of dollars, and student/staff volunteer hours at the main food bank and the satellite distribution centers.

Several local volunteers attended the Appreciation Night which was catered by, What-a-Burger, Torchy’s Tacos, Starbucks, Pluckers, Olive Garden, Jason Deli, and Bushes Chicken.

Hays County Food Bank was founded in 1984 with the goal of serving hungry people in San Marcos. They have since grown to service the entire county. In 2016, with your help they provided food, at no cost, for over 100,000 client visits through direct distribution and partner agencies.

A special thanks to all Hays County residents for your support of the most underserved in Hays county.
