Hays County Lifts Burn Ban Over Labor Day Weekend

Hays County Fire Marshal Nathan Mendenhall today recommended lifting the current burn ban through the Labor Day holiday weekend.

He said 90 percent of the county received more than an inch of rain the past 48 hours with over 50 percent of the county getting two inches or more.

However, this region is prone to drying out quickly.

He said he will re-evaluate the situation on Monday and bring a recommendation to Hays County Commissioners Court on Tuesday morning as to whether the ban will remain lifted or be reinstated.
