Hays County Offices Closed To Observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County offices will be closed Monday, January 15, to observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Offices will reopen at their regular times on Tuesday, January 16. Commissioners Court will be held on January 16 at its usual time and place – 9 a.m. at the Hays County Courthouse on the Square, 111 E. San Antonio St., San Marcos. Join the Court in person or watch live at www.co.hays.tx.us by choosing the Commissioners Court icon.

In San Marcos the day will be observed by the Dunbar Heritage Association and supporters with a ceremonial wreath-laying at 9:30 a.m. at the Memorial Crossroads (MLK Drive at LBJ Drive, believed to be the only intersection in the United States of two such-named streets) followed by a silent march to Greater Bethel Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Then, the Peace Pie Social gets underway at 10:20 a.m. with speakers followed by entertainment, games, movies, and fun (and pie).

All city offices, including the Buda Public Library, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
