Hays County Courthouse, TX – Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one COVID-related fatality, a Kyle woman in her 80s. The department also reports 21 new lab-confirmed cases along with two (2) new hospitalizations and two (2) new hospital discharges. There are 22 additional persons considered recovered. The total number of persons considered recovered is 16,221.
The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 16,877. Hays County has 421 active cases. In the past 21 days, there have been 655 active cases. Hays County has had 772 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 6 people are currently hospitalized.
HCLHD officials urge everyone to continue following COVID-19 health and safety protocols, including frequent vigorous hand washing, social distancing, wearing face masks, and avoiding in-person gatherings.
“By avoiding large crowds at locations like bars, parties, and the beach, we can continue to slow the spread of the virus,” Epidemiologist Ian Harris said.
